Almost £2000 raised from the York 10k – help us reach our target

On Sunday 5th August, 30 Garbutt + Elliott team members donned their running gear and hit the pavements to support our two chosen charities, the York Special Care Baby Unit and Our Angels.

Every year we join in the York 10K and this year we had our largest team ever, setting our fundraising target at £2000.  Both of our  chosen, Yorkshire based charities, rely heavily on support from local business and individuals to be able to provide the amazing services that they offer.

York Special Care Baby Unit provides relief, care and treatment of premature and sick new born babies, by assisting with the purchase of specialised medical equipment, improving amenities and facilities, providing emotional support, financial assistance with travel costs, supporting parents and siblings, and supporting the education and vocational training of staff on the unit.

Our Angels supports parents and families through the heartbreak of baby loss at any stage, though they deal mainly with late miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death.

We are currently just over £300 away from our target and we know that with continued support we can reach our goal, which will contribute significantly to an overall annual fundraising amount. We recently donated £18,000 to our two previously chosen charitable causes and we hope to reach and exceed this figure, throughout the year, with various fundraising activities.

Nigel Shaw, Partner and head of corporate social responsibility at Garbutt + Elliott says “As a company and as individuals we want to make a difference and we go the extra mile, or 10k in this case, in our fundraising efforts. We would like to reach an annual total of £20,000 this year and we look forward to participating in future events managed by our social and charity team.”
