Team G+E run the York 10k
Not only did we have a team of runners taking part in the York 10k 2016 on Sunday 7th August, we also had a couple of extra team members acting as “guides” for runners from York Blind & Partially Sighted Society.
We have done this now for a couple of years and it’s great to be involved in helping the charity, who might not otherwise feel the event is for them, to take part – their involvement goes to show the wide diversity of runners/walkers taking part in this major York sporting event which attracts over 5,000 participants each year.
For all of the G+E team it was also about raising funds for our 2016 charity partner Special Stars Foundation and we successfully beat our target of £750 for this specific event with donations still coming in. We are now well on course towards our overall fundraising target of £15,000 for the year.
So whilst some of the team were keen to get a “PB” on what is a fast 10k course, the rest were just happy to get round the streets of York on a very warm Sunday morning, taking in the wonderful sights and sounds of a great sporting occasion and “doing our bit” for two very worthy charities.
I’m sure our G+E team will be back for more next year!
