The “Great Battle of Bootham”

In what can only be described as the “Great Battle of Bootham” three of our own recently tightened their bootstraps and joined our close client, The Helmsley Group in one of the final matches played at the York City football ground, against Langleys Solicitors.

The rain may have been falling but spirits weren’t dampened as Ben Thompson and Ben Thompson (yes we are lucky enough to have two) and Dan Horner  joined the Helmsley team at Bootham before the big move to the new York Football stadium, later this year.

We may not have won but it was a close call at 4-3 to Langleys but what a game it was and most importantly hugely enjoyable with fun had by all!

Notable highlights from those at G+E were Dan Horner’s ‘brick wall-like’ strength in defence, Ben Thompson 2’s superb strike, which we’re still not totally sure how the keeper saved, and Ben Thompson 1’s fabulously taken goal and penalty.  Moments that will go down in G+E football history!

With everyone having such a great time, there is already talk of more matches to come at the new Monks Cross Stadium, which will be another superb opportunity for us to not only show our skills but be part of raising much needed funds for charity. The event raised a fantastic £350 for the charity ‘SASH’ who are extremely grateful for the monies raised, equating to 18 nights of emergency accommodation, for young people who would have not had somewhere to sleep.

It’s wonderful to see what the difference the night has made and we are thrilled to have been a part of it.
