Rabbit Hill Country Store becomes heart of community at Boroughbridge Business Park
A variety of local and artisanal businesses, including the popular Rabbit Hill Country Store, are thriving at a new business park on the outskirts of Boroughbridge, which opened earlier this year
The Rabbit Hill Business Park was developed by leading landscape and forestry supplier, Green-tech, which acquired the 10-acre brownfield site following capital allowances advice from Yorkshire accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott.
The Rabbit Hill Country Store, which is owned by Katy and Glenn Brown, offers a one-stop-shop for the rural community, selling everything from domestic animal feeds and bedding to workwear, plants and gifts, was one of the first businesses to open its doors to customers, and has since become a vital asset to the local community.
Since its launch in March 2016, the store has gone from strength to strength and is focused on giving back to the local community. It hosts a wide range of free informative events, including seminars on animal care hosted by Dr Becky Lees, a veterinary technical manager, which are designed to make the store more than a local community shop.
The store has also offered local people the opportunity to raise money for Children In Need, by hosting exercise bike challenges and baking competitions, as well as forging close connections with local schools.
The local farming community was also provided with information on rural crime and cybercrime at a recent event, which offered the opportunity to speak with the rural taskforce about any concerns.
The business park, between junctions 47 and 48 on the A1, now houses a head-office for Green-tech, three warehouses, a single-storey office for rental and a number of retail units.
Green-tech has offered low rents to local business in a move designed to help growth within the local business community, with a wide range of local organisations now operating from the Rabbit Hill Business Park.
Green-tech co-owner Rachel Kay said: “Moving to our new facility at Rabbit Hill Park presented us with a great opportunity to give back to the local community and we’re very happy that five local businesses have now moved in and are thriving.
Garbutt + Elliott’s property services partner, Jeremy Oliver said: “We are pleased to have been able to support Green-tech’s vision of creating a hub for local start-up businesses and to see those businesses thriving in their new premises.
“Our ability to offer specialist capital allowances advice puts us in a unique position to help our clients make significant savings through tax relief.”
