The Grand Opening May 3rd 2018

Here at Garbutt + Elliott we want to provide support when it’s needed most. Sometimes that is not just financial! The paediatric surgery ward (L42) at Leeds Children’s Hospital desperately needed a new family room. This room would be for parents to stay alongside their little ones through the toughest moments for any family.

“When we found out that we could support the new parent’s rooms for Ward L42, it was an easy decision to make.” – Mark Philips

Garbutt + Elliott alongside Leeds IKEA came together to remedy this and provide that much needed space. Our own Nigel Shaw, Mark Philips and Adam Wasylkiw were honoured to cut the ribbon for the grand opening of this much needed resource. After much work, patients and staff were delighted to celebrate the occasion.

Not only does it mean so much to us to support our community, but it also means a great deal to our team due to the personal experiences of Mark and his family

Marks Story

“Having spent a number of weeks on the Ward when my eldest son had to undergo major surgery at three weeks old, we were fortunate enough to be assigned a parent’s room on the neo-natal ward. Through my own experiences, I know how important it is to have a private place to go whilst undergoing the stress and worry whilst your child is undergoing treatment and recovering in hospital.

Having seen the newly refurbished rooms, it is clear to see the transformation and the positive impact these will no doubt have for those family members staying in them. The benefits of these room are something that isn’t really considered when a parents’ focus is on the treatment, recovery and well being of their children but the impact of having a private and welcoming ‘home from home’ for parents to stay is immeasurable.  I’m really pleased that we were able to help LCHA complete a project that has long been on their list of things to do.” – Mark Philips

The Grand Opening

Yesterday there was a great buzz of excitement about the ward with one member of staff commenting that the “[The Family Rooms] looked fantastic and all ward staff were so pleased”.

Here at Garbutt + Elliott we strive to go that one step further to support our community. Were not just busy at our desks but were busy providing support out in the community as well. We are very proud to have played our part in providing this resource. We hope that it continues to provide a refuge and supporting environment for families for many years to come.
