Pounding the pavement for charity

There is just one month to go until the York 10k and once again employees from Garbutt + Elliott are getting ready to pound the pavements to raise funds for  the York Special Care Baby Unit.

Every year we join in the York 10K and year on year our team keeps growing,  this time there are 38 of us, including a number of first timers, who will be braving the heat to support our chosen charity. We have set the fundraising target at £2000 to help the incredible charity who relies heavily on support from local business and individuals to be able to provide the amazing services that they offer.

York Special Care Baby Unit provides relief, care and treatment of premature and sick new born babies, by assisting with the purchase of specialised medical equipment, improving amenities and facilities, providing emotional support, financial assistance with travel costs, supporting parents and siblings, and supporting the education and vocational training of staff on the unit.

The running team has been put together by Garbutt + Elliott’s social and charity team.  Every year, the York and Leeds based accountancy firm selects one or two regional charities to lend its support through fundraising activities and year on year try to surpass previous totals raised.

Nigel Shaw, Partner and head of corporate social responsibility at Garbutt + Elliott says “Once again we are hoping to exceed the initial target we have set ourselves to raise. We would love to make it to the £2,5000 mark, upping our overall annual total we can donate to them. YSCBU do such incredible work and the charity is close to our hearts. We do hope you are feeling generous and we greatly appreciate any donation you can make”.
