National Payroll Week 2017
This week puts payroll in the spotlight across the nation.
I am proud that Garbutt + Elliott are playing a full and active part in this week’s unique activities, joining in with other businesses, payroll professionals, the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) and payroll software developers and providers in recognition of this particular area which is a fundamental business function.
For the National Payroll Week (NPW), payroll professionals will come together to highlight payroll as a profession and the many issues which payroll professionals, across the UK, embrace whilst providing a payroll service either for their employer or within a bureau.
In addition, there is the CIPP, who provide a huge amount of training, support and advice to payroll professionals across the UK along with being policy leaders helping shape the future with the political decision makers and the HMRC.
However, it should not be forgotten the amount of input and involvement IT software providers also contribute to the timely and accurate delivery of payrolls. In these ever-changing times more and more demands are being placed on employers. We have seen the introduction of the Apprenticeship levy, Auto enrolment, Gender Pay Gap reporting, child care choices along with changes to expenses and benefits not to mention salary sacrifice to name but a few!! Software is a crucial part of the effectiveness of the payroll function.
This year we also celebrate thirty years of payroll giving which is also known as Give as You Earn. A wonderful way for employers and employees to come together and contribute to charity giving!
As part of NPW Garbutt + Elliott will be reflecting and blogging on some of the changes and challenges for employers; and also providing our thoughts on the future. This will not only be in terms of legislation but also the fast pace of IT developments to help sync payroll with HR and finance software.
During the National Payroll Week you are warmly welcome to contact the Garbutt + Elliott team of payroll professionals if you have any payroll questions or queries.
