Garbutt + Elliott celebrate National Payroll Week – September 3rd – 7th.
It’s National Payroll Week (NPW), the week when all things payroll are celebrated and shouted about. Perhaps not many people are aware of this annual September event, but at Garbutt + Elliott, we think that the week plays a vital part in raising awareness, amongst employers, about the responsibility and importance of ensuring staff are paid on time and correctly.
Equally the National Payroll week plays a fundamental part in raising the awareness of the payroll profession as a whole and it brings payroll professionals together to celebrate their profession. At Garbutt + Elliott we recognise this and we are excited to celebrate what is a complex and worthy profession and more than that, an essential service for our clients.
Many employees do not understand how their pay is calculated, neither do they understand the rules for tax and national insurance. If employees receive benefits, such as company cars, the rules can become even more complex.
With auto enrolment well established in the workplace the demands on the payroll professionals have increased again. There is good news though and HMRC have recently approved a Payroll Apprenticeship scheme. Garbutt + Elliott are thrilled with this introduction and are actively recruiting for an apprentice to join our payroll department. We will highlight the importance of investing in apprenticeships throughout national Payroll Week.
The CIPP promotes the NPW and we will be joining them by decorating the office, holding competitions and also taking this opportunity to carry out some additional fundraising for local charities. We will also use this week to highlight payroll giving and about about the huge financial benefit it offers for charities.
During the week we will also be posting daily blogs providing various insights to the world of payroll and we hope that we can demystify the unknowns for you!
