Letters being sent to VAT registered traders
HM Revenue & Customs has sent a letter to VAT-registered businesses in Great Britain that buy goods from EU suppliers or sell goods to EU customers.
Regardless of the outcome of the ongoing UK negotiations with the EU, the current transition period will definitely come to an end on 31 December 2020 and new processes for moving goods between Great Britain and the EU will take effect on 1 January 2021. The letter provides a good overview of actions that should be taken now to prepare for the new processes and we encourage businesses to read it. At Garbutt + Elliott we advise a range of businesses that are already involved with international transactions across the EU and the rest of the world.
Such businesses benefit from our specialist advice in relation to customs duties and VAT.
