Garbutt + Elliott Steps up Charity Challenge with Leeds 10K

Garbutt + Elliott is stepping up this year’s charity campaign by taking part in the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K on July 10, 2016.

A total of 10 runners from Garbutt + Elliott are set to take part in the event, with the aim of raising £1,000 for one of our chosen charities; The Haven in Leeds.  Garbutt + Elliott raised over £1,000 at last year’s event thanks to the generosity of staff and sponsors.

This is the 10th annual Leeds 10K, which was launched in 2007 by the late Jane Tomlinson CBE.  The event attracts thousands of runners with spectators expected to line the streets of Leeds to show their support.  Last year over 5,000 people ran the city centre course.

Nigel Shaw, partner and head of corporate social responsibility  said: “I am delighted to see so many people sign up to take part in this year’s Leeds 10K.  Those who participated last year had a great experience and everyone is keen to raise as much money as possible for this very worthy cause.”

We’ve been raising money for our chosen charities since January 2016, with colleagues from across our Leeds and York offices getting involved in the fundraising with the aim of raising a total of £15,000.  Employees from the York office are also set to take part in the upcoming York 10K in August to raise money for Special Stars Foundation.

The Haven is a Leeds-based breast cancer support centre which is part of the wider Haven charity with a number of centres across the UK.  The Haven provides a wide range of therapies which help people to deal with the physical and emotional side effects of breast cancer, completely free of charge.
