Garbutt + Elliott set to ‘climb’ the dizzying heights of Everest.

After a year full of successes including a record-breaking annual turnover of almost £8million, over 600 new business wins and more than 40 new hires, Garbutt + Elliott are starting 2019 with new challenges ahead. The first of which is to “climb” Everest.

In support of friend, David Fenton, who is set to travel to Everest Advanced Base Camp and take part in the highest ever game of Rugby, all whilst raising thousands of pounds for the Wooden Spoon Charity, our Leeds based Garbutt + Elliott staff are taking on their own climbing challenge, as they banish the lift in favour of four flights of stairs.

Having recently moved into a beautifully renovated office space, Garbutt + Elliott’s Leeds based staff now have a healthy four flights of stairs to walk, daily.  Over the next month they hope to reach the dizzy heights of Everest whilst passing “peaks” to match Kilamanjaro, Mont Blanc and Ben Nevis along the way.

Split into four teams, each led by one of Garbutt + Elliott’s Leeds based partners, each team will need to climb the stairs 700 times in the month for a combined effort to reach the Everest “summit”.

With every team member tasked to raise funds, they hope to exceed £1000 in their money raising efforts, with donations to be split between the Wooden Spoon Charity and Leeds based, Our Angels, who support parents and families through the heartbreak of baby loss.

The month-long challenge will culminate in the official office opening with Yorkshire man Alan Hinkes, joining in the festivities. Hinkes is the first Briton to climb the world’s 14 highest mountains, all of which are in the ‘death zone’, where human survival rate is measured in hours.  He is part of an exclusive club of only 12 people alive who have achieved this feat.

In honour of Hinkes’ incredible achievements, Garbutt + Elliott have named a meeting room in their new Leeds office after the Yorkshire hero. All the rooms in both the Leeds and York offices are named after incredible Yorkshire Folk, who embody the spirit and values that Garbutt + Elliott hold as a company.  The accountancy firm has credited Hinkes with their values of being tenacious, brave and optimistic.

Each year Garbutt + Elliott choose two charities (one Leeds based, one York based) to raise funds for and in 2019 they hope to exceed £20,000. If you would like to help Garbutt + Elliott reach their fundraising goals you can donate to their cause at
