Garbutt + Elliott Partner, Nigel Shaw, presented with a STEP Founder’s Award.
STEP is the global professional association for practitioners who specialise in family inheritance and succession planning. STEP works to improve public understanding of the issues that families face in this area and promotes education and high professional standards among its members.
STEP members help families plan for their futures, from drafting wills to issues surrounding international families, protection of the vulnerable, family businesses and philanthropic giving.
The Awards are given to members who have made an exceptional and outstanding long-term contribution to the Society above and beyond that normally expected of a member, through office in their branch, or elsewhere in the voluntary life of the Society.
Nigel is a Full STEP member, known as a TEP, meaning that he is internationally recognised as an expert in his field, with proven qualifications and experience. He joined STEP soon after it was founded and has served as both chair and treasurer of STEP Yorkshire. It is with great pride that Nigel accepts the award in recognition of his dedication to the work of STEP, noting, “I am delighted to be part of the STEP journey. Yorkshire was one of the founding branches of STEP in the UK and remains very well supported amongst a diverse local membership. I have really enjoyed supporting STEP in Yorkshire and am pleased it remains such a strong network of like-minded lawyers, accountants, IFA’s and other professionals. Long may it continue”
Volunteers are central to STEP and its ethos of working collaboratively to improve technical knowledge and raise professional standards. George Hodgson, STEP Chief Executive of STEP says, “we are delighted to recognise the contribution this year’s award winners have made to the Society and offer them our warmest congratulations and thanks.”
