Garbutt + Elliott jump 10 places in Charity Audit Survey 2020

The Charity Finance Audit annual survey which is now in its 28th year, examines the audit services provided to charities and is seen as the leading barometer of audit performance across the sector. 1,024 charity organisations responded to this year’s survey with a combined income of £30.7bn in 2020 paying audit fees of £29.2m.

The Survey provides a comprehensive insight into the top charity auditors in the profession and is a useful reference point for charities to see who to approach in terms of expertise and service levels.

The Survey highlighted that the audit process within the charity sector has been less impacted by the pandemic than other business sectors, with charities being quick to embrace digital audit processes and communications.

We are pleased that our firm has climbed ten places in 2020 to twenty three in the overall table of audit fees for the sector.  The hard work and dedication of our charity team and our passion for working with charities has contributed to our performance in the survey.

We are also delighted that for both the level of our expertise in the sector and our overall service levels our clients participating in the survey gave Garbutt + Elliott 100% in both categories.

Laura Masheder, Charity Partner at Garbutt + Elliott said “This is a staggering achievement given the circumstances which we have all faced this year. We have adapted our services to meet the demands of our clients and are thrilled with the results from the Survey. During the pandemic, the firm implemented a dedicated Covid-19 Information Hub on our website for our clients to access all of our resources and advice in one place, giving them access to key updates and announcement when they needed it. We also kept our client base up to speed with a number of calls and emails making them aware of the latest issues, along with Charity Aid, our dedicated newsletter that covered all of these issues. We modified our working practices quickly, utilising the technology invested in by the firm over recent year, and working collaboratively with the support of our clients have been able to continue to deliver to the standards we pride ourselves on ”
