New Yorkshire food and drink entrepreneur awards seek the best businesses since sliced bread
Bold bakers and growing grocers across Yorkshire are set to go head-to-head as nominations open for the first Garbutt + Elliott Yorkshire Food & Drink Entrepreneur Awards.
The inaugural awards, which have been launched by York and Leeds-based accountancy firm Garbutt + Elliott, will recognise the best among the county’s food & drink producers and retailers.
Open to small start-ups and large established businesses, the award will recognise companies that have excelled in categories including product innovation, rapid growth, partnership working, branding, market resilience and exporting.
The awards have been launched to celebrate the thriving food & drink sector in Yorkshire. The county boasts six Michelin-starred restaurants and the best restaurant in the world according to TripAdvisor, The Black Swan at Oldstead.
Announcing the launch of the firm’s Food & Drink Awards, Garbutt + Elliott’s Managing Partner, Russell Turner, said: “We want to see businesses that do things differently. This is your chance to tell your story and celebrate success, whether you’re a producer, manufacturer, farmer or grower. We’ve advised entrepreneurial businesses from micro-breweries to high-street retailers over the years and we’ve seen how forward-thinking and innovative the sector is. It felt natural for us to celebrate that with these awards. We’re expecting to see the cream of the crop enter, and to encourage nominations we’ve intentionally kept the entry criteria short and sweet.”
Businesses can enter by simply providing basic company information, submitting 300 words for their chosen category and sending any supporting documents before the deadline.
The full categories list is: Best Innovation, deliciouslyorkshire TASTE Award, Growth Business of the Year, Best Partnership, Young Business of the Year, Best Yorkshire Exporter, Best Yorkshire Brand, Yorkshire Grit Resilience Award, and Business of the Year. Winners from each category compete to be named ‘Business of the Year’.
The deadline for entries is January 5, 2018. A shortlist will be announced in February 2018 on the Garbutt + Elliott website. Winners will be announced at an awards event on March 7, 2018 at The Hospitium, Museum Gardens, York.
