Pound for pound – Garbutt + Elliott set to pound the pavements to raise funds for local charities
There is just 1 week to go until the York 10k and once again employees from Garbutt + Elliott are getting ready to pound the pavements to raise funds for two incredible charities – the York Special Care Baby Unit and Our Angels.
Every year we join in the York 10K and this year we have our largest team ever! 30 of us, including 7 first timers and the entire GE Wealth management team will be braving the heat to support our chosen charities. We have set the fundraising target at £2000 to help the Yorkshire based charities, who both rely heavily on support from local business and individuals to be able to provide the amazing services that they offer.
York Special Care Baby Unit provides relief, care and treatment of premature and sick new born babies, by assisting with the purchase of specialised medical equipment, improving amenities and facilities, providing emotional support, financial assistance with travel costs, supporting parents and siblings, and supporting the education and vocational training of staff on the unit.
Our Angels supports parents and families through the heartbreak of baby loss at any stage, though they deal mainly with late miscarriage, stillbirth, and neonatal death.
The running team has been put together by Garbutt + Elliott’s social and charity team, which recently donated £18,000 to our two previously chosen charitable causes. Every year, the York and Leeds based accountancy firm selects two charities to lend its support through fundraising activities and year on year try to surpass previous totals raised.
Nigel Shaw, Partner and head of corporate social responsibility at Garbutt + Elliott says “Once again we are hoping to exceed the initial target we have set ourselves to raise. This year’s causes are very worthwhile and we hope to be able to present them with a significant amount of money, at the end of the year, to help them move forward and develop. Our staff are committed to raising money for good causes and it is testament to the social and charity team that we are continuing to be involved in so many events.”
