Dan Gartland, MD of Loadstone Ltd, has led a management buy in (MBI) of curtain accessories business Fabricant – whose clients include Buckingham Palace and 10 Downing Street – for an undisclosed sum. The purchase includes the firm’s manufacturing premises in London and Leyburn.
Davidson Webber LLP and Nigel Bullas of Clough & Co Accountants in Cleakheaton acted for Gartland, he commented: “Fabricant is a real niche business with excellent potential for future growth and we all at Clough & Company look forward to working with the company in the future”.
Neil Large, corporate partner at Davidson Webber, commented: “Fabricant is a genuine success story of a company that has retained its historic manufacturing and design processes in Yorkshire and has remained focused on growth”.
The vendors, Andrew Fuller and Stephen Watts, who will remain in place to ensure a smooth handover – were represented by Hammonds in Leeds and Jeremy Oliver of Garbutt & Elliott Accountants in York.
Jeremy Oliver commented: “We were appointed to advise the owners on the disposal of the business and to market the business opportunity to our contacts and number of targeted businesses in the sector. We acted as the intermediary for the negotiations between the various parties and produced the Heads of Agreement for the transaction, which were passed to the solicitors to draft the legal documentation.
In our role as intermediaries we were able to ensure the transaction proceeded as smoothly as possible”.
