Au Revoir, Mr Kirman

It is not so much a goodbye from him, as an au revoir after half a lifetime.

John Kirman, 60, pictured right, who retires from York-based Garbutt & Elliott chartered accountants after 30 years, gets a thank you from David Dickson, left, managing director.

But while he looks forward to spending more time with his wife, Christine, John will continue as a director of Garbutt & Elliott and act as business adviser to several clients.

Originally from Essex, John moved to York in 1972, lured by the quality of life in the city.

After five years with KPMG, John joined Garbutt & Elliott. Since then, he has been a major force in the development of growth of the firm.
