GARBUTT & ELLIOTT RAISE £600 FOR HAITI

Leading Yorkshire accountants Garbutt & Elliott have presented a cheque for £600 to the Red Cross for the Haitian Earthquake Appeal.

Staff at Garbutt & Elliott’s York and Leeds offices raised £300 on a special fund-raising day, which was matched by the company itself.

Russell Turner, Managing Director, explained: “Haiti’s plight has touched us all, so we thought it would be a good idea to have a dedicated fund-raising day for the victims of the earthquake.

“This involved an amazing cake sale, a silly hat competition, a dress-down day and a raffle, with prizes very kindly donated by Tony Neary Butchers of Clifton in York. Overall, this was a great success. We had fun, while raising money for a very important cause,” he said.

The cheque was handed over to Sally Cater of the Red Cross by the fundraising organisers, Leanne Stevenson and Laura Buck of Garbutt & Elliott.

Sally Cater said: “It is great when companies help us to raise money for such an important cause and we are tremendously grateful to Garbutt & Elliot. The money they have raised will make a real difference to some of those suffering in Haiti.”
