Family businesses in Yorkshire are generally in good health and positive about the future, according to a new survey. The survey by accountants Garbutt & Elliott reveals that the vast majority are proud to promote themselves as family businesses and many are keen to pass the business on to future generations. Family businesses believe that shared commitment and values enhance their performance. But there were drawbacks to family businesses, too. Family members often find it difficult to get away from work and disagreements can put pressure on family relationships. Significantly, however, 80 per cent of those questioned believed that a business was stronger if family members were involved. The survey was undertaken in conjunction with The International Centre for Families in Business. Please click here to download the survey. |
