Why I ran the York 10k – Naveen Sahney

Until 4 years ago, I never thought I would run 1K, so 10K was like an impossible dream for me. I ran my first 10K after I joined Garbutt + Elliott.

Every year Garbutt + Elliott choose and support two local charities as a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Each selected charity has always made me think to do something for those who need our help. I also look at from another point that one day one of my family / close friends might become a part of this cause or even myself.

I decided to run my first York 10K in 2014. I have run the York 10K 4 times so far and to be honest it has never been easy!

While running, I look around at the smiles on everyone’s face and the enthusiasm to do something for other human beings is amazing. However, the satisfaction I get at the finishing line of 10K run is beyond words.

This year Garbutt + Elliott York 10K team has raised over £1,300 to support York Against Cancer.

Therefore, I run 10K at least once a year so that I can also contribute towards solution for some life threatening diseases and make this world a better place to live.

It was a great day at the York 10k – fantastic course, good weather & we had a strong team of runners taking part. One or two of us managed to achieve a personal best, whilst most were just content to enjoy the atmosphere at this fantastic York event. We were pleased to support our charity partners & look forward to working with them further in 2017.
