Garbutt + Elliott helps Yorkshire packaging company relocate with grant advice
Garbutt + Elliott helped Leeds packaging company Samuel Grant Group secure vital funding in order to relocate to new premises in the city as it continues to expand.
The new £5 million warehouse and operations centre is located on a 6.75 acre site at Thornes Farm, within the Leeds City Region Enterprise Zone. A grant of £150,000 was received from the Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership (LEP) towards the cost of the new premises, which will expand the company’s warehousing capacity by 50 per cent.
The grant the company received has not only enabled them to build and move to a new, energy efficient warehouse from its former site in Beeston but has also led to an increase in turnover by nine per cent and a reduction in overheads.
Andrew Grant, managing director at Samuel Grant Group, said: “Garbutt + Elliott was intrinsic to our grant application success, which helped towards the bespoke construction of our new warehouse in the Leeds City Enterprise Zone.
“Our new premises will allow our business to grow as we come into our 125th year of trading and are busier than ever. The new warehouse has helped to make our processes and logistics more efficient, and create new jobs and opportunities for the region.
“Thanks to the expertise at G+E we have maximised on the funding available to us and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend their services.”
Thornes Farm is one of four sites in the 142 hectare Enterprise Zone, located just outside Leeds city centre along the route of the A63 with direct access to the national motorway via junction 45 of the M1. Samuel Grant also has offices in Sheffield and Newcastle.
There are numerous grants available to Yorkshire businesses in a variety of sectors looking to grow, develop their innovation, research and development (R&D) programmes, enhance training and employment opportunities and invest in new assets such as plant and machinery.
Garbutt + Elliott can assist businesses in finding out which grant is most suited to their needs and check eligibility, as well as supporting them through the application process.
Tariq Javaid, corporate finance director at Garbutt + Elliott, said: ‘”We take great pride in assisting our clients with their growth strategies and were delighted to be able to pass on our expertise in this area to Samuel Grant and make a real tangible difference to them.
“This is a fantastic funding scheme and one that can help businesses achieve their growth ambitions as well as increasing employment in the region. If businesses are considering any large capital projects they may well be able to take advantage of this grant funding.’’
